AGI and Machine Consciousness

چکیده
Artificial General Intelligence aims at finding computational models for the deep basic mechanisms of intelligence [50]. The classical view of intelligence from the standpoint of psychology is usually related with the g factor and the psychometric approach (see Neisser et al. [45] for a review). Alternative views have been proposed by Gardner [22] and by Sternberg [61]. Legg and Hutter [36] provided several different definitions related to the different aspects of intelligence, from psychology to philosophy to cognitive sciences.

On the Broad Implications of Reinforcement Learning based AGI
Reinforcement learning (RL) is an attractive machine learning discipline in the context of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). This paper focuses on the intersection between RL and AGI by first speculating on what are the missing components that would facilitate the realization of RL-based AGI. Based on this paradigm, we touch on several of the key moral and practical issues that will inevit...
متن کاملA Foundational Architecture for Artificial General Intelligence
Implementing and fleshing out a number of psychological and neuroscience theories of cognition, the LIDA conceptual model aims at being a cognitive “theory of everything.” With modules or processes for perception, working memory, episodic memories, “consciousness,” procedural memory, action selection, perceptual learning, episodic learning, deliberation, volition, and non-routine problem solvin...
متن کاملTowards An Actual Gödel Machine Implementation: A Lesson in Self-Reflective Systems
Recently, interest has been revived in self-reflective systems in the context of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). An AGI system should be intelligent enough to be able to reason about its own program code, and make modifications where it sees fit, improving on the initial code written by human programmers. A pertinent example is the Gödel Machine, which employs a proof searcher— in parall...
متن کاملDifferent Conceptions of Learning: Function Approximation vs. Self-Organization
This paper compares two understandings of “learning” in the context of AGI research: algorithmic learning that approximates an input/output function according to given instances, and inferential learning that organizes various aspects of the system according to experience. The former is how “learning” is often interpreted in the machine learning community, while the latter is exemplified by the...
متن کاملOpen-Set Classification for Automated Genre Identification
Automated Genre Identification (AGI) of web pages is a problem of increasing importance since web genre (e.g. blog, news, eshops, etc.) information can enhance modern Information Retrieval (IR) systems. The state-of-the-art in this field considers AGI as a closed-set classification problem where a variety of web page representation and machine learning models have intensively studied. In this p...
